Fantasy Football Rankings - Week 9

Updated: Nov 3

We are starting to build data that is usable in predicting future outcomes. We now have enough information to be confident in our predictions. Let's also keep in mind that the NFL is a weekly league, things change very quickly. Most analysts want to tell you that whatever happened last week explains everything, but that's far from reality.

The Process

The process in developing these Fantasy Football Rankings is to only take data from the previous six weeks. Anything older than that holds little relevance unless there is a player returning from injury or some reason to discount the newer information.

Fantasy Football Weekly Rankings

When examining these fantasy football rankings - Week 9, take into consideration that we are looking at positional ranks, not flex or overall rankings. When it comes to who you start in the flex a lot will depend on your specific league rules and roster construction. If players are ranked within 3 spots of each other the difference between them is negligible, they are expected to score the same amount of points, in those cases go with your gut, flip a coin, or join our FREE Discord Channel.

Quarterback

Jordan Love is “optimistic” about playing this week, but he seems real hubbled and should probably rest going into the Packers bye week and be back to near full health for the stretch-run. Love was diagnosed with a strained groin after exiting this past Sunday's win over Jacksonville, prompting the Packers to label him day-to-day. Backup quarterback Malik Willis ended up directing the offense in the second half in route to a 30-27 win, and he would fill in for Love for a third time this season if Love isn't cleared to suit up.

In his first start, Jameis Winston completed 27/41 passes for 334 yards, 8.1 YPA, three touchdowns and no interceptions and supported four fantasy viable receivers. He’s going to have much tougher pass defenses in the next six weeks that he did against the pass-funnel Ravens.

Running Back

Breece Hall's utilization took a step back in Week 8; 74 percent of the snaps (even), 57 percent attempts (down), 52 percent routes (down), 20 percent targets (even), 9.9 points (down). Todd Downing decided to get Braelon Allen involved with 43 percent of attempts.

Commanders Week 8 RB snap shares:

Austin Ekeler 56.8%

Brian Robinson 47.3%

Robinson led in snaps in each of the first three games, but Ekeler has out-snapped Robinson in every game they’ve played together since Week 3.

Wide Receiver

Garrett Wilson in two games with Davante Adams:

14.7 fantasy points per game, 99 percent of the routes, 27 percent target share, 56 percent of the team air yards. The Jets are a joke right now, but Garrett Wilson continues to carve out a monster role, per @dwainmcfarland.

The Rams are back!

In his first game back, Puka Nacua only played 57 percent of the snaps, but Matthew Stafford targeted him nine times. He finished with 7 receptions for 106 yards.

Cooper Kupp returned from injury to post 5-51-1 on eight targets.

It appears that whe Nacua and Kupp are playing, Stafford likes to target Demarcus Robinson in the red zone, connecting for two touchdowns on three targets.

Defense/Special Teams

Since the 2021 season, Robert Saleh's first in New York, the Jets defense is first in points per drive, first in EPA per play, and third in success rate, despite playing the fourth-most snaps over that stretch.
